Reading for Enjoyment

 Dr. Seuss:

These are timeless classics. These books teach valuable lessons and English skills. These are used greatly with rhyming and types of poems.

Eric Carle

Eric Carle books are great for lower elementary.  They talk about colors, animals and even shapes.

Laura Numeroff

My students love these books! they enjoy that they can read along and understand where the story is going.  There are so many different ones, from valentines day to Christmas. Each one has a fun story and different animal involved.

Anna Dewdney

These books are great for social topics in lower elementary. These are very beneficial for young learners. She has written these books from sharing, missing mom and even emotions like being mad. Children are able to relate and enjoy reading about such a sweet little lama.

David Shannon

This is another series I read at the beginning of the year to show and explain expectations and consequences at school. Most of my students have never been to school before and aren't quite sure what is appropriate or not.

Eric Litwin

Pete the cat is a great series for kindergarten and 1st grade. These explain social problems, holidays, occupations and even counting.

Kevin Henkes

I read Wemberly Worried at the beginning of each year with my younger students. It really helps them to understand some of their emotions as they first start school and that it will all be okay.
